Armory Atlas: The Complete User Handbook

Welcome to Armory Atlas. This guide will walk you through every feature of the application, from logging your first firearm to leveraging its most advanced capabilities for training, travel, and long-term collection management.

1. The Armory Atlas Philosophy: Why We Built This App

Armory Atlas was created to solve the two disconnected realities of modern firearm ownership:

  • The Digital Shoebox Problem: Responsible owners need to meticulously track their firearms, ammunition, and maintenance. Many rely on a clumsy patchwork of spreadsheets and notes apps that are inefficient, error-prone, and lack the privacy this community demands.
  • The Sovereignty Minefield: Traveling with firearms is a high-stakes legal challenge. The complex patchwork of state laws means a law-abiding citizen in one state can become an accidental felon in the next. Existing legal apps provide generic advice but fail to account for your specific equipment.

Bridging the gap: Armory Atlas unifies meticulous inventory with personalized legal guidance in one privacy-first app.

2. Core Principles: The Foundation of Trust

  • Integrated Utility: It solves both the logistical problem of managing a collection and the legal problem of traveling with firearms in one seamless application.
  • Zero-Knowledge Security: Your privacy is paramount. All your data is encrypted on your device with a key that only you control. We can never access, view, or share your personal information.

3. First-Time Setup: Securing Your Vault

Getting started is designed to be both simple and secure. This process ensures that only you can ever access your data.

  1. Sign In with Google: Your first step is to authenticate your identity using your Google account. This is for authentication only—proving you are you—and is completely separate from your data encryption.
  2. Create Your Master Password: After your first sign-in, you will be required to create a strong, separate Master Password. This password is the key to your encrypted vault. It is used on your device to generate your unique encryption key. It is never sent to our servers and cannot be recovered by us.
  3. Save Your Recovery Key: The app will generate a 24-word recovery phrase. You must write this down and store it in a safe physical location. This is the only way to regain access to your vault if you forget your Master Password.
  4. Add Your Permits: Navigate to the 'Profile' tab and select 'My Permits'. Add your home state and any resident or non-resident concealed carry permits you hold. This is crucial for the Travel Co-Pilot to give you accurate, personalized advice.

4. The Digital Armory: Your Complete Inventory

This is the foundation of the app, designed to replace your digital shoebox. A detailed armory powers every other feature.

How to Add & Manage Firearms:

  1. Navigate to the 'Armory' tab and tap '+ Add Firearm'.
  2. Fill in the details: Make, Model, Caliber, Serial Number, Purchase Date, and Value.
  3. Upload Documents: Tap the 'Attachments' icon to upload photos, receipts, and other important documents for insurance and record-keeping.
  4. Link Accessories: In the firearm's detail view, go to 'Accessories' to add and link optics, lights, and holsters directly to that firearm.

How to Log Ammunition:

  1. Go to the 'Ammo' section within the Armory.
  2. Tap '+ Add Ammo' and enter the caliber, grain, type (e.g., FMJ, JHP), and quantity.
  3. Quick Add: Use the barcode scanner icon to quickly add new boxes of ammunition by scanning the UPC, which will pre-fill the details for you.

How to Manage Reloading Data

  1. Navigate to the 'Reloading' section.
  2. Log Components: Add your inventory of powder, primers, brass, and bullets.
  3. Create Recipes: Build and save specific load recipes, selecting from your component inventory and entering data like powder charge and seating depth.

How to Set Maintenance Reminders

  1. When editing a firearm, go to the 'Maintenance' section.
  2. Set a reminder based on a date (e.g., "Oil every 90 days") or by round count (e.g., "Clean after 500 rounds"). The app will notify you when service is due.

5. The Travel Co-Pilot: Navigating with Confidence

This feature turns your inventory data into actionable legal intelligence, transforming a high-anxiety process into a manageable one.

  1. Plan a Route: Navigate to the 'Atlas' tab and enter a start and end destination.
  2. Analyze Trip: Tap 'Analyze Trip'. Armory Atlas will cross-reference every item in your Digital Armory—your firearms, your magazines, and even your ammunition type—against the specific laws of each state on your route.
  3. Get Your Compliance Plan: The result is a simple, actionable checklist with clear warnings and instructions.

6. The Performance Coach: From Logbook to Training Partner

The Range Log:

  1. Navigate to the 'Range Log' tab and tap '+ New Session'.
  2. Select the date, location, firearms, and ammunition/reloading recipe used.
  3. Enter the number of rounds fired. This automatically updates the firearm's total round count and decrements your ammo inventory.

Training Hardware

  1. Go to Hardware in the Performance Coach section.
  2. Connect and calibrate your device (e.g., Mantis, shot timer), then start a session.

7. Advanced Capabilities

NFA Vault

Secure NFA Document Vault: Navigate to the 'Vault' tab to securely upload and store your encrypted NFA documents, such as ATF Form 4s or trust paperwork. Files are encrypted on your device before being uploaded.

Executor Access

Secure Estate Planning ("Executor Access"): In the 'Trust' section of your profile, you can set up Executor Access. This allows you to encrypt your Master Encryption Key with a trusted individual's public key.

Community Directory

Community Directory: In the public-facing 'Directory', you can view and submit reports on "gun-friendly" or "gun-unfriendly" businesses, helping the community make informed decisions. All submissions are anonymous.

8. Privacy & Security: Our Commitment

  • Zero-Knowledge: We can't see your data. It's encrypted on your device with your Master Password. Our server only stores meaningless encrypted blobs of data that we have no ability to decrypt.
  • Offline-First: The app is fully functional without an internet connection. All your data lives on your device, so you can access it anywhere, anytime.
  • Optional Encrypted Backup: You can choose to opt-in to our end-to-end encrypted cloud backup service. This allows you to sync your data across devices. We only store the encrypted blobs; we can never read them.

We hope this guide helps you get the most out of Armory Atlas. Stay safe and stay compliant.
